Manito's Perennial Garden

A Brief History

Who would have thought that banker who moved to Spokane from Illinois in 1908 would become such an important figure in Spokane History? The Joel E. Ferris Perennial Garden is only one place bearing his name. The Joel E. Ferris Perennial Garden in Manito Garden was dedicated shortly after Mr. Ferris’ death in 1960.

The Joel E. Ferris Perennial Garden displays plants that live for more than two growing seasons. Boasting over 300 varieties of plants, the vastness of colors, textures, flowers and scents is astounding. The plants also vary is height and width. This garden begins blooming in the spring and continues blooming through the fall. The Joel E. Ferris Perennial Garden is a tremendous example of how diverse perennials can be.
